Research of Target Audience - AB demographic

The Brief has give the following target audience for our coursework:

"A culturally sophisticated, 16-25 class AB demographic"

The AB demographic represents households who are of the upper middle class, or middle class backgrounds, as well as the upper class society. 

As a whole, this represents the top 27% of society. 

( As stated by the National Readership Survey)
This demographic is expected to have jobs such as Lawyers, CEO,s or managers.

As the target age is 16-25, it is the children of these families hat is the focus. These children will still be dependent on their families for income and support, often getting whatever they ask for.
The sort of person that the product would be aimed at, is people who live a luxurious lifestyle of holidays and parties, but would also be intelligent and culturally sophisticated enough to understand the intertextuality and postmodern ideas that could be presented in a music video such as mine.
as the brief specifically states culturally sophisticated, then the audience would need to be cultured, i.e hold an impressive education, either higher education or Advanced levels. and would need to have 'taste'. A sense of good and bad when it comes to style and presentation.

The demographic will be split into 3 groups.
1. 16-18
16-18 year old's will be going through their A-levels, and becoming very free. Their parents will probably give them an allowance, or some other form of monetary benefit that will give them the freedom to do as they please. This is time in their lives in which the party lifestyle will develop. Someone at this age will be much more carefree.

2. 18-21
At this age, sons and daughters will be expected to go to university and study to become a doctor, or lawyer, or other high class job. The parent will still probably give them money toward living costs, but the individual will start to become more free and independent. It is at this point that the person becomes Cultured and Sophisticated.

3.21-25
After university, the individual will be a fully fledged and sophisticated person, but will still be relatively poor. At this age, they will still get money from their parents, but will be starting their high class jobs, and begin to earn some serious money. The party lifestyle will return here, but it will be more mature and sophisticated tat the raves of the 16 year-old.
