I have Narrowed down my choices of Song for music video to 3 choices.
Each choice Must not have a music video already, and must be in-keeping with the brief given.
Choice 1 - P!NK - The King is dead but the Queen is alive
This is a very confident song abut female power. The lyrics features heavy themes of royalty and female power, Both of which are very sophisticated themes.
This song however, might be problematic as it may not entirely fit the brief. An exam board may decide that the song itself did not fit into the dance genre, and therefore not fit the brief.
This song would however be my strongest choice, as this style is familiar to me and I believe I would produce much higher results.
Choice 2 - Ariana Grande - I Don't Care
This is a much slower song, that is definitely within the genre requirements. It also features many classical rhythms so would be beneficial for the style. The song is however incredibly slow, making it hard to choreograph dance. It would also be more difficult to create a video in-keeping with the style as i am unfamiliar with it.
Another issue might arise in the themes within the song. Many are traditional and therefore not very culturally sophisticated, which is what the brief looks for.
Choice 3 - Ariana Grande - Why Try
Choice 3 is another Grande song which is firmly cemented in the dance genre. it is also a little faster making it easier to choreograph to. The themes presented within the lyrics and the melody are quite traditional, and depict a relationship between two lovers. As the themes are quite traditional, problems could arise in making it attractive to a culturally sophisticated.
