My Best 6 Photos
Photo 1
This is a good photo as the profile of the model is exactly what I wanted. The props are perfectly square to the camera, meaning the brand is clear.
The look that the model gives has the desired feeling toward the product and casts it in a positive light
Photo 2
This photo is also good as it is similar to the first, however, the model is turned slightly towards camera. The spoon is even more visible, which is a positive.
Photo 3
I like this photo as the change of positioning the spoon makes the model and photo look more elegant and refined.
Photo 4
This is a good shot as the open mouth is suggestive that she wants more, the Nutella tub is also held at a slight angle, which makes the shot seem more casual and fun, an aesthetic which could appeal to the TA of families.
Photo 5
I like this one as the standing pose helps the posture of the model. One Drawback however, is that the tub becomes very hard to read, so you don't necessarily know that it is Nutella.
Photo 6
this is my favorite photo, as the ponytail and the way the model holds the tub emphasizes the childish and fun aesthetic, which appeals to the right TA. The posture is good and the look on her face is the one I wanted.

Background choices for my advert
Background 1
This background is simple and relates to the original advert. A white background would also be easily created in the photoshoot so that it would not need to be added with photoshop.
A white background would also compliment the brand, as white is used throughout Nutella branding.
Background 2
The next idea would be to take a plain background photo and display it on a wall design. This would relate to the billboard aesthetic used in the original.
This would also add a hint of diversity or uniqueness to the advert as it is an unusal sight.
Background 3
The third idea was a blurred kitchen. This would link to the TA, which is families, as the kitchen is a very family oriented room. The kitchen would have to be blurry, so that it looked natural for the model to be in that setting, as you could not have both the kitchen and the model in focus.
This background is similar to the plain background, but features spotlights to focus on the model or product. This can put more emphasis onto the model and make her stand out a lot more.
A two-tone background like this advert could be useful, as it could help to reinforce the brand identity through colour, and a plain white background could still be used for the model. This would make the process of photography much easier.
This background plays on the idea of heaven. In the original advert, the model looks t the sky as if to suggest a heavenly taste or feeling. This background would play on that idea and put the model on steps to heaven. The background continues the metaphor and reinforces the idea.
My Statement of Intent
The intention of my project is to recreate an Advert for the brand 'Nutella'. I will do this by creating brand identity and individuality through the use of models and specific colours. I will use Roland Barthes' theories on iconic signs to create this. The advert will cater for a wide audience which should include both teenagers, and families. This target audience should be achieved by using a very family oriented brand and making sure at the advert is not overly sexualised, as this could deter a family. It is intended for teens, specifically teenage girls, to be attracted to this advert as they will aspire to be like the model in both likes and looks. The intended reading for my advert is a positive view of Nutella, that suggests a heavenly or wonderful taste. I Will achieve this by using a model to pose in a way which is stereotypical of these feelings. The colours used , such as white, will also help to create this feeling. I also aim to have the product to be the main focus as oppose to the model, as I feel that this is the most important part of the advert.

Advert Research 2
This advert is similar to the first, however it focuses much more on the product as oppose to the model.
The advert also features a medium shot of a model, however she is to the right of frame, not center. This suggests that she is not the most important thing, and the text next to her is.
Brand identity is also created through the use of colour, the contrast of red and black is iconic of Nutella and the font uses is also the same as the Nutella font used on the product.
The font is sans serif, signifying that the advert is serious, and the main focus is the text. The model is even positioned in a way that it appears as if she is looking at the text.
The target audience for this advert would be anyone, the advert is very unisex, and isn't meant to appeal to any particular group of people. It could be argued that men are more likely to view this advert as it features a female model, however the model is not sexualised in any way
